TE PUKE, Saturday. Piaying at Te Puke ori Saturday, a Bay of Plenty representative side defeated the Maori touring team 28-0. The weather and ground were ideal. The Bay of Plenty pressed from the kick off, the Maori full back saving repeatedly with excellent long line kicks. The Maoris got the ball from tho scrums, but the defence- was sound. An infringement gave the Bay a chance in front of the goal, Howell goaling. From nice play, Connolly scored a beautiful try for the Bay, but the kick failed. The first spell ended Bav of Plenty 6, Maoris nil. The Bay maintained pressure, and Connolly punted high to follow fast and seore an unconverted try. Shortly afterward Tama scored a try which was not converted. Moore- added another try for the Bay, the Maoris making a poor showing. Whitely scored next under the posts. Potaka converted. Howell was the next to score for the Bay of Plenty and Potaka added the extra points. Tama then got over, but failed to touch down. Potaka handled and scored another converted try. The final result was Bay of Plenty 28, Maoris 0.
