(Press -Assn.-
no time limit removal of reductions not contemplated at present MR. FORBES STATEMENT
— By Telegraph — Copyright)
W JULJjiiN ixl'UJN, xuesaay. There is no prospect of the first cut of °10 per cent. in the salaries of civil servants being restored at thje, endof the year. This wagrffiffd^cTear by tne Hon. G. W. Forbes in an interview. "No cuts will be removed," said Mr. Forbes. "The position is more difficult to-day than when the first cut -was made." A good deal of misconception regarding th'e position .exists among Government officers, many of whom believe that the legislation imposing the first cut of 10 per cent. expires on December 31. Those who hold this view have made a mistake in their interpretation of the Act. There is no time limit fixed to the section of the Act dealing with the salaries of civil servants.
