HOME BURNED

FAMILY ESCAPES FROM HOUSE IN NIGHT ATTIRE OPOTIKI, Wednesday. A five-roomed hou,'se, owned and occupied by Mr Charles Drenzy Walker, farmer, of the Raukokore Settlement, on the East Coast, about 70 miles east of Opotiki, was destroyed by fire. When the alarm was raised the fire had a good hold. and the house was soon burned to the ground. Th'e family _ escaped in their night attire, having no time to save anything. The house was insured by the Union Company for £400, and the furniture for £100. Mr. Walker is a heavy loser.
