DE VALERA'S STATEMENT

DUBLIN, Wednesday. The Dail discussed the Senate amendment to the Oath Bill, which Mr. de Valera stated the Government opposed. Mr. Anthony, Independent Labour leader said, "If it is imperialism to honour a bond and preserve the Free State economic fabrie, then I ara an imperialist." Mx*. de Valera, reply ing, asked whether, having declared independence of the Empire, they were to allow themselves to be submerged again therein. "We should do no wrong," he said, "if we declared independenee to-mor-row. Great Britain is always threatening hostile action. Let xis get that declaration from Great Britain and we will accept the challenge." Tho Dail rejected the Senate amendment.
