POWER CHARGES
COMPARTIVE FJGURES FOR THE FOUR CENTRES DUNEDIN, Thursday. Speaking at a City Conncil meeting, Mr. Marlow, a councillor, disputed the Christchurch Council's claim that it supplies power at the lowest rate in New Zealand, and he gave the total number of units used and the average cash charge per unit to, the consumer in each centre in 1931, as follow: — Average Units. Revenue Auckland 114,506,620 1.393d Wellington .... 47,761,586 1.630d Christchurch .... 46,285,245 1.138d Dunedin 54,432,607 .923d In addition, he said, Dunedin' s electric power department in the last 20 years had provided £250,000 for the relief of rates.
