LEFT BY FARMER BEFORE SUICIDE IN WATER HOLE

AUCKLAND, Thursday. An inquest conceming the death of William Hazlett Coster, aged 46, dairy farmer, of Whangaparaoa, was held yesterday. The body of deceased was found in a cattle water-hole on his farm on Tuesday. Deceased's wife said when she last saw her husband alive on Tuesday morning he was in his usual good spirits. After his body was found in the water-hole the following note, written by deceased, was found in the house: — "Good-bye, forgive me. I am worn out, body and mind. Oh, Mum, how I love you and Rona, but it is for the best. God help you to bear it. I have struggled to the limit. In the water-hole." As far as witness knew, her husband had no financial difficulties and had never given any indication of his intention to commit suicide. The coroner returned a verdict of suicide by drowning.
