n.z. dissatisfied APPLIC ATION TO ENGLISH UNION FOR AN ALTERATION STRONG REPRESENTATIONS
-By Telegraph — Copyright).
WELLINGTON, Thursday. Dissatisfaction with the recent actioa of the Rugby Union of England in ordering th'e discontinuance of two long standing Rugby customs, promoted the New Zealaiid Management Committee I to take immediate steps to have the matter rsconsidered by the Home authorities. Information as to what is being done is to be given to all unions, and Australia also is being advised. The letter from the management committee states: "It seems from communications we are receiving, that rules regarding the non-replacement °f - injured players and the remaining on the field at half time, do not meet with general approval. However, wa have agreed to abide by the rules of the international board, and in th'e meantime must carry out the instructions regarding these rulas, but we r are making strong representations to the Rugby football unions, and are sending the following cable to our London representative, Mr. Cecil Wray which will be followed up with a l'atter to the English Rugby Union. "Instructions regarding replacements and leaving the field are causing widespread eoncern in the unions and clubs here and in Australia. Please make strong representations to the English union, that as these matters do not affect the p-laying of the game, and in view of the long standing of the practice hare, they grant us dispensation to replaee injured players and to leave the field at half-time. The general opiniop here is that the replacement of injured players is more sporting, and experience proves that the provision is not abused."
