TERRIFIC WIND
STORM LEAVES WAKE OF DESTRUCTION IN COUNTRY. FARMING DISTRICTS SUFFER.

SYDNEY, Saturday. Fierce westerly gales, which have been experiehced over a wide area, c'overirig' Tasinania, Yictoria, and the c'oastal highlands areas 6f New South' I Wales, caused coh'sidefable damage ■ in a number Of places on the south' I coast. DOzens of houses and garage's were unroofed, arfd plate glass windows blown in. Terrific gusts blew down the wall Of the Primary DistribUtirig Society's Store and destr'oye'd the aerial masts at the Woolon'gorig- broadcasting station, 2WL. The wake of the raging wind was StreWn with wreckage of every description. Particularly exteiisive damage was done in the farming districtS' where hundreds of fences and misfcellaneous aftieles were scattered; At Willy Nilly a man was blown from a ladder and injured. In a SpbCial Warning to shipping the Weather Bureau forecasts Strong gales and rough se'as over Ta'sman Sea;.
