SUSPECTED ATTEMPT ON LIFE OF LORD LLOYD.

LONDON, Saturday. Home Office experts report that there was no high explosive in the bomb found at St. Bees, only a black powder. It is inconclusive whether a hoax was intended, and it is uncertain whether the bomb was harmfiil. On June 20 two boys fourid an infernal maehine under .the p'latform after Lord Lloyd had distributed the nrizes at St. Bees Sciiool, Cumberland. It was believed it may have been an attempt on Lord Lloyd's lt£e. The mechanism of the maehine', which was controlled by a clock arraiigement, was fitted with a 12-hour dial, and was set for 3.30 p.m., af which hour Lord Lloyd was distributihg the prizes.
