A CURIOUS WILL
£100 FORFEIT FOR FUR WEARERS A curious restrietion in a barrister's will was revealed to Mr. Justice Luxmoore recently in the Chancery Division. Mr. Charles Augustin Treverby Prideaux, who died in 1930, left most of his money to the R.S.P.C.A., but there were bequests of £100 each to several people: "Conditional on no person interested eating foie gras or any crab, eel, crayfish, lobster'; prawn, shrimp, or any shelled or other animal or creature without absolute proof of humane death or killing of such creature before cooking and with the least possible paiin; or of any bird or other animals as an ornament or as trimming." Persons disregarding the testator's wishes were to forfeit all benefit under the will. The Judge held the condidition was invalid.
