WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

HUSBANDS' evening The Woodlands branch of the Women's Institute held a social evening for husbands and men friends on Friday last. The evening was a great success. Flag five hundred was played for tho first part of the evening, and proved very popular. The winners were Mesdames Beattie and McGregor, Messrs. Maxwell and Beattie. Booby prizes, Misses Dodson and Armstrong, Messrs. B. Mulhern and Angus. The latter part of the. evening was spont in dancing, games, and a playette entitled "The Minister's Mistake." Mesdames Hollard, Lammas, and Pillcington carried out the playeti e and are to be heartily congratulated on providing such excellent and amusing entertainment. Their efforts were indeed worthy of a bouquet and they really deserved a good one eaeh. They received one each, but not quite of the orthodox kind as these were composed of earrots and onions. The three ladies took this unrehearsed incident in good part, however, and accepted the presentation on the stage nruch to the delight of the whole audience. Mr. W. Aidney wron the musical parcel game and Miss K. Mulhern and Mr. Angus the Monte Carlo dance. Miss Ena Armstrong gave a recitation which was enthusiastically encored.
