© NIGHTDRESS CATCHES ALIGHT ■ CAUSING^SEVERE INJURIES As a result of its night dress becoming ignited when sitting on a fender near a fire, a small child, daughter of a local resident, was severely burned on Saturday morning. The child, who was only three years of age, was left for a moment alone in the room. The child rushed into the kftchen to her mother, who beat the flames out with her hands entailing severe burns herself in so doiiig. The child was burnt up the back and on one side « nd arm. She was admitted to the Opotiki Hospital and is doing as wel'. as can be expected. The mother is suffering Jcrom shock as well as the burns on her hands.
