FAREWELL EVENING

AT PAERATA RIDGE A most enjoyable evening was spent in the Paerata Ridge Sehool on Friday when the residents of the Ridge held a social evening to farewell Mr. and Mrs. Stavely. A number of games and two compotitions were held. The competitions were won by Mrs. Stan Webb and Mr. Shove and by Mrs. Stan. Webb and Mr. A. Stavely. A musical parcel competition for the children attending the school was won by Aino Birch. After a very dainty supper had bcen served Mr. Baigent, chairman of the school committee, on behalf of the residents of the Ridge, presented Mrs. Stavely with a rug and Mr. Stavely with a cardigan. Mr. Baigent, in his speech, referred to the great interest that Mr. and Mrs. Stavely had taken in the social life and school we-fare of the Ridge. Both Mr. and Mrs. Stavely have bcen members of the school committee, Mr. Stavely having held the -position of chairman, during which time he gave the most excellent and untiring service. Mr. Stavely made a suitable reply on hehalf of Mrs. Stavely and himself, and a very happy evening was brouglit to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
