DARING THEFT
GARAGE BROKEN OPEN AND TILL CONTENTS STOLEN , NO ARREST YET MADE WHAKATANE, Thursday. A daring robbery took place hetween 6 and 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday when the office of the garage of S. C., Wheeler, George Street, Whakatane was entered and the contents of the till stolen. Mr. Wheeler stated that his assistant, Mr. M. Cummings and himseF left the garage shortly before 6 o'clock and closed the office door. The day's takings, approximately £1 10/- in' silver, were in the till. Mr. Wheeler closed the outside doors which eomprise two very heavy sliding garage doors, but did not lock them as he intended shortly returning. On his return about 6.30 however, he found the doors open and proceedto the office, he found that the office door with a yale lock had been burst open and the till rifled. No arrest has yet been mai.
