WINTER SHOW

INTERESTING ATTRACTIONS FOR THIS YEAR'S EXHIBITION Attractions of an outstanding nature are promised to patrons of fhe Rotorua Agricultural and Pastoral Association's annual Winter Show of two days, which will open in the R.M. Buildings on Wednesday, June 22. Indications are evident that the high standard and number of exhibits which ereated such favourable eomment during the last show, will this year prove of even more interest, the inclusion of several new features having also been arranged. The wide range of exhibits in the produce section of the show last year was an eye-opener to most patrons and proved to them the remarkable productivity of the lands in the Rotorua district. The educational value to the many schooi children who viewed the exhibits was of considerable value, and will this year prove of even greater assistance. On their own part, the children are valuable contributors to the success of the show, the exhibits arranged by each schooi being partieularly interesting and invariably attracting attention from parents and other patrons. A novel feature this year will he the stand arranged by the Rotorua section of the New Zealand .Radio Amateur Transmitters' Association, who, following similar successful enterprises by transmitters in other towns, will provide and operate apparatus as a gratu^tous service to the public by transmitting messages of greetings to their friends in any part of the world. Th© apparatns to be used is that of the Radio Emergency Corps similar to that which proved of such great value during the period of the Napier earthquakes, and which is installed in Rotorua for the fotwarding of emergency messages ifl the event of any similar catastrophe. A baby show, which usually attracts mueh interest among parents, will be held at 2.30 p.m. on the opening day, and will be post entry, at a small fee of one shilling. \ Prize-money totalling £230 is ha* j ing provided for competition in the j various classes, entries for the poultry section closing on June 15, and for other sections on June 18. As a fitting conclusion t.o what ; promises to be a very successful exhibition, a grand ball and 500 tournament will be held in the Majestic Ballroom on Thursday evening, June 23. ... • j
