EXPLORERS' SHIP
RETURNS FROM LONG CRUISE IN THE SOUTHERN ATLANTIC (British Official "Wireless) Rec. June 7, 7.0 p.m. RUGBY, Tuesday. The Royal research sbip, William Scoresby, reached London to-day after 19 months spent in scientific investigations in tbe Southern Atlantic and oif the coast of South Africa. During several months she was engaged in biological and hydrological work near Soutb Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, and in March last, finding the ice favourable, extended operations into latitudes 70 degrees south, obtaining results of great scientific importance. It then surveyed the Humboldt current off the West Coast of South America. From the autumn until her return, she surveyed the trawling ground- near the Falkland Islands to obtain an accurate estimate of their commercial possibilities.
