NO LICENSES
FISHERMEN INFRINGE REGULATIONS AT TAUPO A Feilding resident, Noel Bramwell, did not appear in the Taupo Magistrate's Court yesterday, to answer a charge of fishing at Motutere Point, Lake Taupo, without being the holder of a district fishing license. The conservator of fish and game (Mr. A. Kean) stated that Bramwell had been found fishing at Motutere Point by the ranger, and when asked to produce his license had been unable to do so. He had finally forwarded a half-season license for the Feilding acclimitisation district, but this type of license was only opera- • tive in the district in which it was issued. The department did not take a very serious view of the matter. Defendant was convicted and ordered to pay costs 10s. A similar charge, and a second charge of failing to produce his cur..rent license on demand, was preferu "r'ed against E. Jones, of Taupo, who did not appear. Ranger Potts stated that he had found the defendant fishing in the Waikato River near Rotokawa on April 24. He had five fish in his possession and had admitted, when questioned, that he had no license. Jones was convicted and fined £3. The second charge was withdrawn.
