PRISONER CHARGED
HAUTU INMATE GIVEN CONCURRENT GAOL SENTENCES A young man named Herbert Barrington, at present serving a sentence at the Hautu prison farm, appeared before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Taupo Magistrate's Court yesterday morning and admitted two charges of tbeft in regard to hire purchase agreements with the Farmers' Trading Company, Ltd., Auckland. The police stated that Barrington had obtained a phonograph and a ruby and diamond ring by hire purchase from the Farmers Trading Company. He had failed to fulfil the agreement, the thefts being committed prior to the conviction on which the accused was at present serving a sentence. Apparently the company had never made any inquiries about the accused. Barrington was sentenesd to three months' imprisonment on each charge to be ser.ved concurrently with the present sentence.
