WELLINGTON, Tues. During the past couple of weeks people have been remarking upon the brilliant glow often attendant upon the sunsets, also of halos rburid tbe sun and moon. Sueh reports bave come from a number of localities. Moreover, there has been a noticeable drop in tbe temperatures-' One set of circumstances, according to Dr. Kidson, Director of Meteorological Services, will • account fdr all these pbenomena— that is, tbat the air circulating over New Zealand has become impregnated with li'ght volcanic ash carried by the prevailirig westerly air currents from the r'eeent eruptions in Chile. It is too late in the season for the effects to come from bush fire smoke from Australia, besides which they have had rain over there lately.
