GOUGULOFF'S STORY

(Press. Assn,

STRUGGLE AGAINST OBSESSION WHICH PROYED TOO STRONG KILLING OF M. DOUMER

. — By Telegraph— Copyrlgiit).

PARIS, Tuesday. Gouguloff, the assassin of President Doumer told the examining magistrate an astonishing story. He said he had long been dominated by the idea of killing M. Doumer. He went on the day of the murder to Notre Dame and prayed for hours to dispel the obsession but failed. He even vainly tried to provoke a policeman to arrest him by inquiring what would happen if he murdered someone. Thereafter he went to a cafe and drank a bottle of cognac, in an unsuccessful attempt to get drunk, but the idea of murder persisted. He then went to the hook sale and was in a stafe of hypnosis when he shot M. Doumer.
