petition governor to withhold royal assent consideration promised

SYDNEY, Friday. A petition was handed to the Governor to-day on behalf of British mortgagees asking that the Royal Assent to the Mortgage Taxation Bill should be withheld. A large wool-brokerage firm, which has enormous sums of English capital lent on station properties, and also leading British manufaeturing eompanies, are much perturbed. The Governor promised full eonsideration to the petition.
