CANBERRA, Friday. Complete power to mullify the Mortgages Taxation Bill is contained in the Financial Emergency State Legislation Bill, which was rushed through all stages in the House of Representatives to-day by 45 votes, to 10 votes, the rninority comprising the Lang f action and a few Federal Labour supporters. The Bill provides that no mortgages may be eharged with any tax or impost greater than could be eharged under the laws of New South Wales in force on April 30, last. The Bill also precludes the imposition of any penalty by State law for non-payment of any tax upon any mortgage or upon the principal thus secured.
