record hearing 103 WITNESSES HEARD IN EIGHTY -SEVEN DAYS AT HUGE COST HUSBAND GRANTEDi DECREE

Rec. May 2, 7.50 p.m. SYDNEY, Monday. Judgment was delivered to-day in a society divorce suit which broke all city records. It occupied 87 days, 103 witnesses were examjned and legal cqsts are estimated at over £20,000. The parties were Sidney John Field, meat exporter and his wife, Ivy Field. The latter instituted a suit alleging misconduct, but her husband filed a cross-petition on the same grounds, joining three persons as co-respond-ents, two of whom were struek out during the hearing, but the third, Rowland Nott, warehouseman, was to-day adjudged guilty of misconduct with Mrs Field.: ' Mr. Justice Owen found that Mrs Field had been reckless and untruth^ ful in her charges against her husband, and her allegations with regard to his misconduct with other women had not been proved, as were her charges of cruelty, Qn the other hand Mrs Field was held guiltj' of misconduct with Nott in the eavly part of last year. Counsel for Mrs Field and for Nott announced their intention of appeaL ing. Mr. Field's alimony payments of £50 a week to his wife have been reduced to £15 a week. A decree nisi was pronounced. Mr. Field was ordered to pay his wife's costs, also the costs of the two co-respondents eliminated. Mr. Nott was ordered to pay Mr. Field's costs.
