Rec. May 2, 8.35 p.m. MELBOURNE, Monday. Presence of mind saved the life of a city council worker, Timothy Kenmedy, aged 52 years, who was buried beneath an avalanche of sand. His companion obtained a Iong piece of piping and forced it through the sand. ... Kennedy grasped the end and inserted it in his mouth and thus obtained air. He lapsed into unconsciousness, but recovered when rescued.
