ULM INJURED
CRASH INTO ELECTRIC POWER TRANSMISSION LINE 'PLA-NE EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED ' . MELBOURNE, Monday. • Fligbt-Lieutenant Charles Ulm (the well-known airman and associate of Air Commodore Kingsford Smith in several pf his great enterprises, including his flight from Sydney to New Zealand), and ,Mr. J. Kerr, were recently injured when their 'plane crashed into electric power transmis,sion lines at taverton. Both received cbncussion anl burns, but were saved from electroT cution by automatic devices at each end pf the lines, which immediately cut off tlie power at the impact. The engine of the 'plane was .thrown 40 yards/and the petrol tank, which burst into flames, was torn locise and fell about- 10 feet'from the plane, in which Me'ssrs. Ulm and Kerr wero strapped.
