BURGLARY AT OHAUPO

LARGE QUANTITY 'OF GOODS REMOVED FROM - STORE AUCTIONEERING FIRM'S LOSS OHAUPO, Monday. Broken glass in the doorway and a gaping hole in the glass fanlight above the entrance aroused the suspicions of employees of the Ohaupo branch of the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneer.ing Company, Ltd., when they arrived to open the store this morning. A hasty examination of the interior revealed unmistakeable signs of intruders having been in the building, and when the stock was chec.ked goods valued at over £60 were found to be missing. The unauthorised visitors effected an entrance by breaking the fanlight with a steel bar, which they left behind them. It was comparatively easy to climh on a small shelf outside the door, and then through the hole, and once inside they worked undisturbed. A wide range of articles was taken, and the indications are that a careful selection was made. Such a large quaritity of goods was taken that there can be no doubt that a car was used by the thieves. Deteetive-Sergeant J. Thompson, of Hamiltop, who has charge of the case, was on the scene early this morning. This is the second occasion in five months on, which the Ohaupo branch has been burgled. On Oetober 7 goods valued at £80 were removed. Two: brothers riamed Cole were arrested at Auckland . sbortly, after, and charged witb tbe-oifence.
