Rec. Feb. 5. 10.10 p.m. . OTTAWA, Thursday. Opinions in Government circles are that the British tariff will materially assist Canada. If the 10 per cent. duty levied by Great Britain on the wide range of artieles indicated with the Domimons exempt, it should be a great assistance to Canada. "It will form an excellent basis for consultation at the approaching Economic Conference," said the Minister of Trade and Commerce, Mr. H. H. Stevens.
