Rec. Jan. 29, 1 a.m. L0ND0N, Thursday. A message from Portland states that the search is being continued for the missing submarine M2 by H.M.S. Tedworth with deep sea diving appliances and extra divers. The British United Press representative at Gravelines, France, interviewed Captain Howard, master of the steamer Tynesider, who telephoned to the Admiralty stating he saw the submarine dive. Some minutes later he saw the submarine with one . end down at an angle of 45 degrees. , It theii dived iiito the sea north-west-by-north off Portland Bill, and 21 mileS from the shore. ; "Ours wris the only boat near," added Gaptain Howafd. The search has accordingly heen shifted to the spot where Captain Howard saw the suhiftarine disappear, but hope has now been abandoned as the oxygen wduld he exhatisted. Diving continued all night long, hut an under-current prevented the men from reaching the located obstacle.
