workshops staffs demand withdrawal of notices PRESSURE ON BOARD

WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The branches of the Railways Tradesmen's Association and the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants at the Hutt workshops have passed a resolution calling on the Government to bring pressure on the Railways Board to refrain from further dismissals. It is felt that plans should be devised to enable the latest lot of dismissal notices, numberirg about 40, to be withdrawn. Many of the men affeeted have had long service and all are highly qualified.
