CHRISTMAS CHAMPIONSHIP AND HANDICAP MATCHES PROGRAMME OF EVENTS A tennis championship and handicap tournament to be held over thx*ee days commencing on December 25, in the Government Grounds, under the auspices of the Rotorua Lawn Tennis Club, should prove a very popular event for visitors to the town, as well as being the means of attracting some of the leading exponents of the game to spend Christmas in Rotorua. The comprehensive programme of events set down includes the following contests: Men's championship singles; ladies' championship singles; men's championship doubles; ladies' championship doubles; mixed championship doubles; and the following handicap events; men's sin-
gles; ladies' singles; men's doubles; ladies' doubles and mixed doubles. . The referees are Dr. S. H. Hay and Mr. N. Smith. All the championship games are to be the best of three sets, the third being an advantage set, except in the finals of the men's singles and doubles, which will be played to five sets, the last being an advantage. .The handicap events will be decided by the best of 21 games for men and of 17 games for the ladies. The combined events, will be the best of 21 games. The handicap finals will be played to three sets, the last being an advantage. Play in the various matches will commence each day at 9 a.m., and will continue without a break. Ten grass courts are available for the tournament, and provided the weather is good it should pass off most successfully. Entries for the various. events will close with the secretary of the Rotorua Lawn Tennis Club, Mr. G. T. McDowell, on December 23, and the handicaps will be declared the next day, when the draw for all' events will also be made. I
