Tbe man in Scriptnre who went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell amongst thieves Las many modern companions in I misfortune, owing to highway robberies believed to be due to tbe escape of gaol-birds from Amman. At least fifty were raided on a lonely spot yesterday. Tbe b'rigands |stopped eight motor cars and three m'otor buses tbreatenxng the drivers with instant death umless they halted. They tore rings from women's I fingers, Diexiacxng them with revolvers and rifles, and also robbed some male passengers. The sufferers include many j prominent British residents, among whom is a daughter of the Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem; also some tourists. One American was robbed of .£100.
