ENGINEER'S FATE IN WILDS OF NORTHERN XUSTRALIA BODY EATEN BY ALLIGATORS

— By Telegraph — Copyright.)

PORT DARWIN, Monday. That Mr. Hubert Watts, mining engineer at Hermit Hill, was speared by blacks and his body eaten by alliga- | tors is indicated in a report from Mounted Constable McCann, of Daly Waters. The constable, accompanied by three black trackers, after a search extending over three weeks found bloodstained clothing with portions cut out, evidently to enable the victim to withdraw the spears from his body. From the spot where the body had been lying, alligator marlcs were found leading to a lagoon, indicating that the body had been dragged there.
