MAMAKU COLLAPSES

LENIHAN'S FINE BOWLING Assisted by a bowler's wicket and a poor light, Lenihan and Dr. Wallis put up bowling achievements on Saturday when playing for Albion against Mamaku at the High School grounds. D. and O. Simmonds opened for Mamaku, but A. Simmonds was soon skittled by Lenihan. Nankervis, who filled the vacancy, was caught behind the wickets and then Kelly was caught by Hampson, with the result chat three good wickets were down without a run having been scored. D. Simmonds, who had been patiently holding his end np fell a victim to the doctor. Price and Reid fared little better, and six wickets were down for six runs. Lockie saved his side from a debacle, however, by smiting hard at everything. He knoeked up 14 before being caught right on the boundary by Hampson, who held an excellent catch. Beckett hit a two and a four off Lenihan and then rain caused play to be abandoned for the day with the score at eight wickets for 24 runs. Lenihan kept an exeellent length throughout and his leg off-break had the Mamaku batsmen all at sea. He also varied his paco and length judiciously. Dr. Wallis trundled steadily, his four oveys failing to produce a run, while he secured one wicket. Sutherland bowled three maidens without result. The game will be concluded next Saturday.
