QUARREL BETWEEN FATHER AND SON HAS FATAL ENDING. •GlINNEBAH, Saturday After having been free from primes of violence for' 25 years, the Gunnedah district was sfiocked today on hearing that a man had been shot dead, The vietim was Walter Cecil Peddell, aged 50, who died from a pearifle bullet in the brain. Peddell was a miner at Black Jaqk eoalmine, which has been idle for some weeks. He lived with his wife and family in a bungaloxy at Mornington, the principal suburb of Gunnedah. He had been absent from home, and returned by the 3 a.m. train today. By 4 a.m. he had been shot. Shortly after his arrival he had a quarrel with his wife. His son Cecil, aged 17, .interfered, and demanded that his father leave his mother alone. Several shots were fired, and the father was seen to fall, The son at once informed the poliee, and the father, then unconscious was removed to hospital. He remained in that condition until he died this afternoon.
