ELECTORAL ROLLS
("Post" Special Commissioner)
LABOUR MEMBERS COMPLAIN THAT SOME ARE NOT COMPLETE MATTER TC BE LOOKED INTO
WELLINGTON, Thursday. Complaints that some electoral rolls needed overhauling were made in the House of Representatives today. Mr. D. G. Sullivan (Labour, Avondale), asked what steps were being taken to ensure that the coming general election would be fought on a clean and complete roll. There were many districts, he felt sure, where changes had taken place and where nothing had been done to put the rolls right. Mr. J. McCombs (Labour, Lyttelton) , suggested that the postal authorities should be asked to check the rolls and to undertake enrolments. There would be no extra cost to the State as a sum would merely be transferred from one department to another. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. V/. Forbes, promised to look into the question as he believed the rolls should he as complete as possible!
