-By Telegraph. — Copyright).
LONDON, Wednes. There was throughont Britain, a hrill this afternoon at the news of Ir. Eamsay MacDonald's vindication t Seaham against almost heartrendag odds. It was indeed the miracle f the poll. Commenting editorially on the reults, the "Times" says: — "The conntry has delivered its udgment in no uncertain voiee npon hie men who ran away as well as iieir followers, dnpes and instigators. n no area except South "Wales has ,abour held its own. It is evident hat the National Government wiil ave the electorate behind it even lore than in the case of the Liberal lajority in 1906. Government Vindicated. "The election has vindicated the ourage of the National Government i trusting the people to pronounce ,'isely upon its case which was /idely exposed to the attaeks of igorance and prejudiee. It is not easy or a nation struggllng against unemiloyment, pricked by retrenehment, owed by taxation, to resist the wiles f the demagogue. but British 'demoeacy has passed the test. Cred't is ue to Messrs MacDonald, Snowden, Sir. J. Sirnon, Mr Walter Eunciman nd Sir Herbert Samuel." The "Daily Telegraph" says: "The esults constitute as sweeping a verict as ever was reported by any [emocratic people. It is the fulfilaent of hopes founded as much upon n instinctive convletion of the naion's soundness as on the calculations f experts. Mr. MacDcnald asked for , majority to proclaim to the world hat the people of Britain were ro olved to set their financial house in rder.
