Rec. Oct. 25, 5.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Sunday. The Transport Trust, by invoking j the powers given it by recent legisla- I tion, has bombshelled the motor-bus I interests who have notified 4000 em- j ployees that they will not be requir- j ed after October 31. This is the result of regulations in which bus licenses shall include a provision for the payment to the Government of ld per section for adult passengers and ld for children. On a 6d run the Government will take 5d on an adult's fare and in the caso of a child the bus would receive nothing. If the Metropolitan bus services ' are stopped, as is threatened, a large scction of the population will be in- j convenienced. The buses at present ' are carrying 100,000,000 passengers ' annually and the companies distribute i £1.250,000 in wages and for material. ! The Federal Government also j would lose £150,000 per annum in j petrol tax on the consumption of over j 600 buses.
