NEW YORK, Monday. A message from Los Angeles states that Clark has been acquitted. He admitted killing Spencer and Crawford, and claimed that he shot in selfdefence. The jurors congratulated Clark, and women members of the jury embraced Mrs Clark. Herbert Spencer, a former chief of staix of the "Evening Express," and Charles Crawford, a well-known figure in political circles were murdered' in the latter's office. Spencer, who was a veteran police reporter, was conversing with Crawford when their assailant entered Crawford's office and shot them. He afterwards escaped in a waiting motor-car.
