OSCAR GARDEN ABANDONS PLAN TEMPORARILY "AIR CIRCUS" IN AFRICA

WELLINGTON, Wed. Mr Oscar Garden, the noted aviator, who flew from Sydney to New Zealand early this year, has abandoned in the meanthne his plan to fly from England to New Zealand. Mr Garden intends conducting an air "circus" in South Africa with his partner, Mr John Tranen, and other pilots and is now on his way to South Africa with three or four 'planes. This information was conveyed by Mr. Garden's mother who arrived. by the Tamaroa to-day. She said her son Oscar had found difficulty in raising the money to purchase. a machine to fly to Australia and New Zealand. He had an old and lower powered machine for the England-Australian section. He then decided to take in a partner and undefrtook fche South African air circus venture. Mrs Garden said her son had had a great reception at the Isle of Man, her native place, and where he was educated. Recently he had undergone a special course in advanced airmanship.
