REQUEST TO ANTE-DATE AGREEMENT MINISTER'S REGRETS
— By Telegraph — Copyright).
WELLINGTON, Wed. In the House of Representatives today Mr F. Lye (United, Waikato), asked the Minister of Agriculture, the' Hon. D. Jones, whether in connection with the Government subsidy on fertilisers for farmers, he would arrange for the arrangement to be effective as from October 1 last. The Minister pointed ont that some days before the grant was made notice was published in the newspapers that an arrangement was likely to be made by the Government. He was sorry the Government could not agree to set the date back to October 1. An agreement had been arrived at and he thought the farmers had had sufficient notice of the fact. Whatever date was specified for delivery, there were bound to be some farmers who, unfortunately, would not obtain the benefit.
