admiralty to HELP sailors hard hit by cuts HUGE SAVINGS ON DOLE

-Copyright.

LONDON, Sunday. Admiralty Fleet orders, notifying the new rates of pay as from October 1, contain provisions for consideration of the cases of married men under the age of 25. The Admiralty is approaching hire purchase firms and insurance companies with a view to preventing hardship to the men generally. The new scale of unemployment insurance, calculated to,save £12,800,000, comes into operation as from Monday. An indication of the new spirit of economy is afforded by the 2nd Battalion, the Scots Guards, in moving from Aldershot to Windsor. Instead of entraining as is usual during the exchanges, the men expressed the desire to march and save expense. The Army Council accepted the offer appreciatively.
