U'Post" Snecial Commissioner) .
large taupo area CABINET AWAITS REPORT OF INVESTIGATION NOW PROCEEDING NEW MINISTER'S INTEREST
WELLINGTON, Thursday. The investigation into the possibilities of developing a large tract of undeveloped land in the TaurangaTaupo Block, comprising 142,492 acres of Crown and native land, announced recnntly, by the Minister of Lands, the Hop, E. A. Ransom, is proceeding and it ,is stated that Cabinet will soon be ablejo make an announcement of its policy.
Should the reports of the committee which has been set up to investigate the area be favourable it is more than likely that the Unemploy- . ment Board will launch a big scheme in the district. The Right Hon. J. G. Coates, who ' ' now has charge of unemployment, has ' repeatedly urged that unemployed men should be concentrated on land development and it is more than - likely that he will welcome any oppor- • tunity to put his ideas into practise.
