SILVER CURRENCY

Press Assoeiation-

Post Special Service.

value to world's trade with eastern countries ADYOCATED IN ENGLAND Rec. Sept. 23, 8.15 p.m.

-Oopyright.

By Telephone —

LONDON, Wednesday. A crowded meeting of public and business men under the auspices of the China Assoeiation decided to form a silver assoeiation. The meeting urged the Government to call a conference to consider raising the price of silver, and its restoration to a place in the world's , monetary system, as the quickest ' remedy for falling prices. Sir Robert Horne, who presided, said that many people believed the proper use of silver benefitted the world by increasing the purchasing power of the East, which contains nearly half the world's people. Mr. L. C. M. S. Amery said: "Now we are off the gold standard we should not neglect any opportunity of maintaining the strength of sterling to enable a return to the gold standard at a figure of our own choosing. The important step, therefore, is the strengthening of exports, for which the restoration of silver is essential."
