CANBERRA, Thursday. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin to-day received a letter from Sir Robert Gibson, chairman of the Commonwealth Bank, enclosing the bank's decision upon the requests of the Premier's Conference for increased financial provision. . It is understood that the provision of additional funds for unemployment relief is considered to be impracticable, but that the banks are able to finance a restricted public works programme, also to provide relief for necessitous farmers. Mr. Scullin will inform the House of Representatives of the letter this afternoon.
