ORANGE CAKE.
Ingredients. — ll qups 'of flour,. one large tahlespoon of ' hutter, one cup of sugar, one egg, half-cup of milk, one ofange, half-teaspoon sodd, icing su'gar. 4 Method. — Cream the butter and sugar, beat in the egg. Add the flour, sifted with a pinch of . salt and half a level teaspoonful of .soda alterriately with the1 milk. Mix in the grated rind of the orange. Lastly, -add a tahlespoon of hot orange juice. Bake in sandwich tins in a moderate oven for about half an hour. Cover with an icing made of icing sugar moistened with' endugh orange jiiioe to make it jnto 'a thick paste. Add a sp'ot of butter and melt over the fire to a spreadihg consistency. Pour over the cake. If the sugar gets too hot the icing will be dull; The cake can be' deeorated with pegs of orange or mandarin.
