The United States Government is sympathetic towards Signor Grandi's proposal made to the League of Nation's Assembly, for an armament holiday, according to authoritatiye information obtained here, but will take no definite stand in reference to the matter at present. , The American Government is thoroughly friendly towards Signor Gr.andi's conception and is prepared to exercise its influence on behalf of any movement which will aid the prospects of the Disarmament Conference, but prefers for the present that the situation surrounding the forthcoming conference be kept fluid.
