HOTEL LICENSES

LAW MUST BE OBSERVED WELLINGTON, Monday. "The committee holds the definite view that if licensees do not comply with the law they should not hold licenses," said the chairman of the Wellington Licensing Committee, Mr E. Page, S.M., at the quarterly meeting.held to-day. Mr Page said that one of the licenees had had two convietions during the quarter and there was another charge pending against him. The committee did not propose to deal with the rpatter at its present sitting, but its view was that if convietions followed one another, a lieensee would have. to lose his license. If any steps were contemplated, a licensee's coun- ' sel would be given an opportunity to state his. case.
