YOUTH INJURED
MOTOR CYCLE SKIDS AND FALL'S ON RIDER ACCIDENT AT FA'IRY SPRINGS Two youths, Keith Martin, aged 17 years, a son of Mr W. P. Martin, of Toko Street, Rotorua, and Harold McCormick, also of Rotorua, were thrown from a motor-eycle yesterday morning when it skidcled in the sand at the side of the main road near Fairy Spring. McCormick, who was riding on the pillion escaped without injury, but Martin, who was riding the machine, was less fortunate and sustained a broken rib, shock and facial abrasions. « Martin and his companion were proceeding towards Ngongotaha on the former's motor-cycle about 11 a.m. yesterday and when near Fairy Springs overtook a motor car. Martin .pulled over to the side of the read with the intention of passing the car when his cycle skidded in a patch of soft sand. The machine jumped a ditch at the roadside, throwing McCormick to the ground as it did so. It then struck a bank, falling on top of its rider. Assistance was quickly on the scene ' and Martin, who was slightly stunned, was removed to Mr Bell's house while medical aid was called. Dr Hay and the amfiulance went out to Fairy Spring and the injured man, after being given first-aid treatment was admitted to King Gedrge V. Hospital, where he was reported last night to be progressing favourably.
