WELLINGTON, Sunday, Choosing an empty railway bus near the telephone exchange on Jervois Quay late on Friday nighfc, a thief carried out an audacious robbery, securing the day.'s takings of the bus, ■ A strenuous pursuit followed but the culprit escaped. Leaving his bus, which was empty, to check his watch with the driyer of the bus in front, the dr iver saw a ihan su'ddenly dart into the bus, snatch the cash-box from its fastenings, and make off. T-he two bus drivers and others who had witnessed the theft, pursued the thief, but the quarry altered his 'course and held the start which he had obtained. The chase continued through the railway yards but aided by the darkness, the man escaped. The amount in the cash-box was approximately "£5.
