TWO FEET UNDER GROUND. PRESENCE A MYSTERY.
MATAMATA, Thursday. The discovery of a fully-grown male sk leton was made this week on tbe fax'm of Mr. J. E. West at Taihoa, near Matamata. The land on which the discovery was made was broken .n from the virgin state by Mr. West a-nd has been down in grass for some years. Mr.'West's son was digging for sand when he came across bonis two feet below the surface, and be carefully dug around the skeleton. The oldest residents have no recollection of a burial in the locality, neither is it recognised as a Maori burial ground.
